Kang Junyoung

강준영은 회화, 조각, 드로잉, 영상 등 다양한 매체를 통해 자신의 자전적 이야기를 문학적 스토리텔링으로 풀어나간다. 그의 작품의 주제는 크게 ‘가족, 사랑, 꽃, 집’으로 나뉜다. 이는 어린 시절부터 호주와 미국, 한국을 오가며 경험한 유학 생활 그리고 유별난 가족의 사랑을 통해 각인된 '낭만적 사랑'의 감성이 그의 작업의 실마리가 된 것으로, 이를 서정적이면서도 세련된 미감으로 표현하였다. 작가는 도자기와 페인팅, 드로잉 등 다양한 매체를 활용하며, 자기 생각과 내밀한 감정선을 다양한 색감과 자유로운 붓 터치로 구현한다. 특히 전통적으로 내려오는 달항아리에 자신만의 드로잉을 담으며 현대적 감각으로 재해석하여, 도자기를 '쓰임'이 아닌 '보는 것'의 개념으로 변화시켰다. 나아가 작가는 ‘Pray for you(너를 위해 기도해)’, ‘You are more beautiful than you think(너는 네가 생각하는 것보다 더 아름다워)’, ‘I adore you(나는 당신을 좋아합니다.)’ 등 직관적으로 희망을 주는 메시지를 작품 안에 담음으로 인류의 보편적인 감정을 넓게 아우르는 깊이를 가지고 교감하고자 한다. 강준영은 홍익대학교에서 도예유리과와 동대학원에서 석사를 졸업하였다. 2006년 갤러리쌈지를 시작으로 갤러리 현대(2011), 김해 클레이아트 미술관(2013), 갤러리 휴 싱가포르(2015), CR Collective(2017), 아뜰리에 아키(2021), 이길이구 갤러리(2023) 등 개인전을 개최했으며, 아르코 미술관(2010), 대만 도자박물관(2011), 경기세계도자비엔날레 여주 특별전(2015), 소다미술관(2019), 토탈미술관(2020), 성남큐브미술관(2021) 등 다수의 기획전에 참여하였다. 2006 클레이 올림픽 대상을 수상하였으며, 부띠크모나코미술관, 한향림세라믹 뮤지엄, 파라다이스 호텔 등에 작품이 소장되어 있다. Kang Junyoung unfolds his autobiographical story through various media such as painting, sculpture, drawing, and video, employing literary storytelling. The themes of his work can be broadly categorized into "family, love, flowers, and home." These themes stem from his experiences of studying abroad in Australia, the United States, and Korea since childhood, as well as the extraordinary love of his family, imprinting a sense of "romantic love" that he expresses with lyrical yet sophisticated sensibility. Utilizing diverse media such as ceramics, painting, and drawing, the artist embodies his thoughts and profound emotions with various colors and free brushstrokes. Particularly, he reinterprets traditional moon jars by incorporating his own drawings, transforming ceramics from a utilitarian concept to a notion of "seeing." Furthermore, the artist embeds straightforward messages of hope within his works, such as "Pray for you," "You are more beautiful than you think," and "I adore you," aiming to communicate deeply with universal human emotions. Junyoung graduated from the Department of Ceramics and Glass at Hongik University and obtained a master's degree from its Graduate School. Starting from Gallery Samji in 2006, he has held solo exhibitions at venues such as Gallery Hyundai (2011), Gimhae Clayarch Museum (2013), Gallery Huue Singapore (2015), CR Collective (2017), Atelier Arki (2021), and Gallery 2gil2gu (2023). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions at institutions such as Arko Art Center (2010), Taiwan Ceramics Museum (2011), Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale Yeouju Special Exhibition (2015), Soda Museum (2019), Total Museum (2020), and Seongnam Arts Center Cube Museum (2021). He was awarded the Clay Olympics Grand Prize in 2006, and his works are housed in collections including the Budafok Museum in Monaco, Hanyang Lim Ceramic Museum, and Paradise Hotel.
