Kim Younghyun

김영현의 작품은 각인된 도상의 관념적 개념의 이면에 대해 탐구한다. 말, 천사 등을 상징성을 가진 소재를 모티브로 삼아 풍경과 정물의 도상들을 작가의 관념적인 상상으로 재구성하여, 기존과 다른 서사를 표현한다. 작가는 인식과 상상 사이에서 파생되는 도상의 개념에 주목하며, 화면 속 배치된 조형적 요소들의 상호작용을 통해 실제에 대한 절대적인 인식이 무엇인지에 대해 질문을 던진다. 이러한 그의 작품은 추상적인 감각과 학습된 상징성을 가진 도상들을 충실하게 묘사하고 있으나, 현실적이지 않는 도상들의 조합을 통해 미묘한 상상력을 자극하고 있다. 최근 작가는 인체에 관해 관심을 가지면서 기존 자신의 모티브로 삼았던 대상들의 가려져 있던 실루엣을 자신만의 상상적 시각으로 표현하며, 숨겨져 있는 이면의 서사를 다루고자 한다. 그리고 보는 이로 하여금 자연스럽게 연상되는 각자의 관념이 가득 담긴 서사를 써 내려가 서로 교감할 수 있는 이야기로 읽히길 기대한다. 나아가 작가의 주재료인 광목천이 가지는 물성에 대한 실험적인 작품을 선보이며 재료의 변주와 이미지의 묘사를 통해 보는 이의 시각과 감각을 두드리는 작품을 선보이는데, 다양한 시각적 기법을 구현하며 개념의 표현을 확장하고 있다. 김영현은 서울대학교 동양학과를 졸업하고 현재 동대학원에 재학 중이다. 2023년 유영공간에서 개인전을 가졌으며, 《불안한 선》(ABMS, 서울, 2022), 《빌라다르2023》(예술의 전당, 서울 2023), 《마중물 아트마켓》(김리아갤러리, 서울, 2023), 《이빨을 뽑아 새땅에 심었다.》(2024, 아트돔, 서울, 2024), 《대리석을 핥는 장미》(우석갤러리, 서울, 2024) 등 다수의 기획전에 참여하였다. 그 외 2024년 SAA 프린트레지던시 참여하였으며 2023년 원래월드를 출판하는 등 다양한 활동을 펼치고 있다. Kim Young-hyun's works explore the conceptual depths behind imprinted symbols. Using motifs with symbolic meanings such as horses and angels, the artist reconfigures the icons of landscapes and still lifes through her own conceptual imagination, creating narratives distinct from conventional ones. Kim focuses on the concepts of icons that arise between perception and imagination, questioning the nature of absolute perception through the interactions of compositional elements within her works. While faithfully depicting abstract sensations and learned symbolism, her combination of unrealistic icons stimulates subtle imagination. Recently, the artist has turned her attention to the human body, expressing the hidden silhouettes of her previous motifs through her imaginative perspective, aiming to reveal the underlying narratives. He hopes viewers will naturally create their own concept-filled stories and connect with her work on an individual level. Additionally, Kim presents experimental works that highlight the material properties of her primary medium, muslin fabric, using variations in materials and imagery to engage the viewer's visual and sensory perceptions. By implementing diverse visual techniques, he expands the expression of concepts. Kim Young-hyun graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Oriental Studies and is currently enrolled in their graduate program. He held a solo exhibition at Yooyoung Space in 2023 and participated in numerous group exhibitions including 《Anxious Lines》(ABMS, Seoul, 2022), 《VillaDAR2023》(Seoul Arts Center, Seoul, 2024), 《Prime Art Market》(Kimree Gallery, Seoul, 2023), 《Planted New Teeth in Fresh Soil》(Art Dome, Seoulm 2024), and 《Rose Licking Marble》(Wooseok Gallery, Seoul, 2024). Additionally, he participated in the SAA Print Residency in 2024 and published "Original World" in 2023, among various other activities.
