Hur Boree

허보리는 자신이 처한 상황과 감정을 토대로 현대인이 삶 속에서 마주하는 긴장감과 피할 수 없는 현실을 자연의 생명력에 빗대어 표현한다. 그리고 자연과 인간의 관계에 대해 고찰한다. 작가는 자연 채집자로 제주도와 서울을 오가면서 다양한 식물과 꽃, 풀들을 수집한다. 식물들이 와글와글 자라나는 형상은 마치 현대인들이 분주하게 움직이는 모습처럼 보이며, 빼곡히 피어 있는 땅 위의 꽃들, 극한의 상황에도 씩씩함을 잃지 않는 식물의 모습들은 사람의 인생처럼 느껴졌다는 작가는 식물의 형태를 인간의 모습으로 은유적으로 캔버스에 그려 나간다. 수집한 식물과 꽃 수풀 더미들을 형상화한 작품은 추상과 구상 사이의 경계에 묘하게 머물러 있다. 작가는 단순히 아름다운 자연을 관찰하여 재현하는 것이 아닌 자연의 형태와 색의 움직임을 연구한다. 이러한 작가의 회화적 연구를 기반으로 나온 과감하고 경쾌한 붓 터치를 통해 자연에서 작가가 느꼈던 감정을 고스란히 작품으로 드러내며, 대상에 흡수된 작가의 감정을 작품으로 표출하고자 한다. 그리고 식물이라는 소재를 통해 인간의 삶이 지향하는 이상향이 무엇인가에 대한 질문을 내포하며, 보는 이로 하여금 그 답을 함께 찾아가고자 한다. 허보리는 서울대학교 서양화과와 동 대학원을 졸업하였다. 2009 갤러리영을 시작으로 AK갤러리(2013), 백희갤러리(2019), 헬리오아트(2020), 가나아트파크(2021), 통인화랑(2022), 갤러리 플래닛(2022, 2023) 등에서 개인전을 개최했으며, 경기대학교 미술관(2010), 북서울 꿈의 숲 아트센터(2012), 서울시립미술관 남서울관(2017), OCI 미술관(2019), 오산시립미술관(2021), 서울대학교 미술관(2023), 토탈미술관(2023) 등 다수의 기획전에 참여하였다. 그의 작품은 국립현대미술관, 서울시립미술관, 호반문화재단, 제일기획, 페라가모코리아 등에 소장되어 있다. Hur Boree expresses the tension and inevitable realities encountered by modern individuals in their lives, based on the situations and emotions she faces, using the vitality of nature as a metaphor. She reflects on the relationship between nature and humanity. As a nature gatherer, she collects various plants, flowers, and grasses while traveling between Jeju Island and Seoul. The imagery of plants growing vigorously resembles the busy movements of modern individuals, and the flowers blooming densely on the ground and the plants that do not lose their vigor even in extreme conditions are likened to human life. Symbolically, Hur Boree portrays the forms of plants on canvas as representations of human figures. Her works, which shape the collected plants and clusters of flowers, hover subtly between abstraction and figuration. Rather than simply observing and reproducing the beauty of nature, the artist studies the forms and movements of nature's shapes and colors. Through bold and lively brushstrokes derived from her pictorial research, Hur Boree reveals the emotions she felt in nature in her works, aiming to express her absorbed emotions as artworks. Through the medium of plants, she seeks to explore the ideal realm that human life aspires to, inviting viewers to contemplate and search for answers together. Boree graduated from the Department of Western Painting at Seoul National University and its Graduate School. She has held solo exhibitions at various venues such as Gallery Young (2009), AK Gallery (2013), Baik Art Gallery (2019), Helio Art (2020), Gana Art Park (2021), Tongin Gallery (2022), and Gallery Planet (2022, 2023). Additionally, she has participated in numerous group exhibitions at venues including Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art (2010), Buk Seoul Dream Forest Art Center (2012), Seoul Museum of Art (2017), OCI Museum of Art (2019), Osan City Museum of Art (2021), Seoul National University Museum of Art (2023), and Total Museum (2023). Her works are held in collections at institutions such as the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul Museum of Art, Hoban Cultural Foundation, Jeil Planning, and Ferragamo Korea.
