Park Soyoung

박소영은 한국 민속미술에서 받은 영감을 바탕으로, 이를 다양한 전통 문화 간의 대화로 확장한다. 민속예술(Folk art)에 대한 관심은 고향에 대한 기억을 되짚는 과정이자, 뿌리 깊은 문화적 역사와 상징적 모티프에 접근하는 통로로 작동한다. 특히 작가는 시각적 언어 안에서 동아시아와 유럽 사이의 문화적 차이를 드러내는 동시에, 그 사이에 존재하는 은유와 공통의 감각을 자신만의 이야기로 풀어낸다. 작가는 2023년에 꾸었던 꿈에서 시작된 ‘Daydreaming about Love’ 연작과 유럽의 민속회화인 Bauernmalerei와 한국 민속회화의 이미지 및 상징 체계를 결합한 ‘Schrank Series’를 이어오며, 회화, 나무 조각, 사운드 설치, 오일 드로잉 등 다양한 매체를 통해 기억과 꿈, 이야기에 형태를 부여한다. 또한 여러 문화의 양식적 요소를 지속적으로 작업 속에 소환하며, 서로 다른 문화와 서사가 하나의 맥락 안에서 재해석되고 변형되며 번역되는 과정을 드러낸다. 박소영은 이화여자대학교 서양화과를 거쳐 독일 드레스덴 조형예술대학에서 순수미술을 전공하고(2021), 이후 동일 대학에서 무대디자인 마이스터슐러 과정을 졸업했다(2025). 개인전으로는 《Daydreaming about Love》, 록펠러 센터, 드레스덴 (2025)이 있으며, 주요 그룹전으로는 《Protagonist》, 디아컨템포러리, 서울 (2026),《salondergegenwart》, 쿤스트라움, 포츠담 (2026); 《오스트랄레 비엔날레 2025》, 로보트론 칸티네, 드레스덴 (2025); 《M25》, 옥토곤 쿤스트할레, 드레스덴 (2025); 《Win/Win 2023》, 할레 14, 라이프치히 (2023); 《쿤스트폰트 현대미술 신소장품전》, 베를린 주재 작센 자유주 대표부, 베를린 (2023); 《Verschwinden》, 슈톡베르크, 바이마르 (2023); 《Minhwa International》, 홀 오 페임, 드레스덴 (2023, 듀오전) 등 다수의 전시에 참여했다. 작품은 Kunstfonds Sachsen에 소장되어 있다. Park Soyoung, based on inspirations drawn from Korean folk art, expands her practice into a dialogue between different traditional cultures. Her interest in folk art functions as both a process of retracing memories of her hometown and a means of approaching deeply rooted cultural histories and symbolic motifs. In particular, the artist reveals cultural differences between East Asia and Europe within her visual language, while unfolding the metaphors and shared sensibilities that exist between them through her own stories. She has continued the Daydreaming about Love series, which originated from a dream she had in 2023, as well as the 'Schrank Series', which combines the imagery and symbolic systems of European folk painting (Bauernmalerei) and Korean folk painting. Through a variety of media, including painting, wood sculpture, sound installation, and oil drawing, she gives form to memories, dreams, and stories. She also continuously brings stylistic elements from different cultures into her work, revealing the process through which different cultures and narratives are reinterpreted, transformed, and translated within a single context. Park Soyoung studied Painting at Ewha Womans University before earning a degree in Fine Arts from the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts (2021). She subsequently completed the Meisterschüler program in Stage Design at the same institution (2025).Her solo exhibition includes 'Daydreaming about Love' at Rockefeller Center, Dresden (2025).
