Yang Sojeong

양소정은 사물 형태에 관한 드로잉 연구와 회화적 표현에 대한 작업을 이어오고 있다. 작가는 자전적인 경험을 통해 일상으로부터 수집한 이미지를 탐구한다. 그의 작업은 캔버스에 공간을 만들어 하나씩 기록하듯 사물의 형태를 이미지를 그려나가는데, 사물이나 형태의 의미를 소거하고 그 사물에 포함된 일부 요소들과 그 관계들을 포착하여, 사물이 현실의 공간에서 가지고 있는 역할과 의미에 대해 고찰한다. 최근 작가는 “사라지는 과정 중에 있는” 형상에 주목하며, 형태가 가지고 이미지 즉 사물의 본질적인 모양인 윤곽선에 집중함으로써 내면세계를 탐구한다. 이러한 그의 작업은 평면 이 외 나무 조각 등 설치도 함께 선보이며 회화의 공간 구조를 만들어 간다. 양소정은 홍익대학교 회화과 졸업 후, 동대학원에서 석사학위를 받았다. 《In My Mold》(드로잉룸,서울, 2023), 《Landing Net》(룬트갤러리, 서울, 2021), 《형태(形態)》(사이아트 스페이스, 서울, 2017) 《Present Tense》(갤러리 도스, 서울, 2015) 등에서 주요 개인전을 가졌으며, 《Zero Compromise》(아트노이드 178, 서울, 2024), 《다시 만날 때 까지 Part 1》(쇼앤텔, 서울, 2021), 《제9회 겸재내일의 작가전》(겸재정선미술관, 서울, 2018), 《影:의식의 탐색》((재)환원미술관, 서울, 2014) 등 다수의 단체전에 참여하였다. 2022년 소마 드로잉 센터 아카이브 16기 등록작가로 선정되었으며, 국립현대미술관 미술은행에 작품이 소장되어 있다. Yang Sojeong has been engaged in drawing studies and painterly expressions concerning the forms of objects. Through autobiographical experiences, she explores images collected from everyday life. Her work involves creating spaces on the canvas, where she meticulously records the forms of objects one by one. By excluding the context of objects or forms and capturing certain elements and their relationships, she reflects on the roles and meanings that objects hold in real-world spaces. Recently, she has been focusing intently on "forms in the process of disappearing," concentrating on the contours—the essential shapes of objects—to explore the inner world. Her work extends beyond the flat surface, incorporating reliefs, sculptures, and installations, thus creating spatial structures within her paintings. Yang Sojeong graduated from the Department of Painting at Hongik University and earned her master's degree from the same institution. She has held notable solo exhibitions, including 《In My Mold》 (Drawing Room, Seoul, 2023), 《Landing Net》 (Lunt Gallery, Seoul, 2021), 《Shape(形態)》 (CyartSpace, Seoul, 2017), and 《Present Tense》 (Gallery DOS, Seoul, 2015). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, such as 《Zero Compromise》 (ARTnoid178, Seoul, 2024), 《Until we meet again_Part1》 (Show and Tell, Seoul, 2021), 《The 9th Gyeomjae Artist of Tomorrow》 (Gyeomjae Jeongseon Art Museum, Seoul, 2018), and 《影: Quest of Consciousness》 (Hwanwon Museum, Seoul, 2014). In 2022, she was selected as a registered artist for the 16th Artist of Drawing Archive, SOMA Museum of Contemporary Art, and her works are part of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
