Yoon Saerom

윤새롬은 아크릴이라는 소재를 통해 투명하고 색과 빛을 담는 작품을 조각한다. 투명한 아크릴에 다양한 빛을 담아낼 수 있는 유연함을 유지하며, 인상적인 미감을 통해 자신만의 오브제를 선보이고 있다. 작품의 서정적인 색감은 작가의 대표작〈어느 날의〉시리즈에서 잘 나타나는데, 이는 작가가 어린 시절 거주했던 필리핀에서 바라본 바닷가를 주제로 서정적인 풍경의 바라본 경험에서 출발한다. 작가는 그의 기억 속에 남은 아름다운 자연의 색을 표현하고자 아크릴 표면을 염색하여 다채롭고 자연스러운 색의 혼합을 유도한다. 아크릴에 닿는 빛의 굴절과 반사 현상을 섬세하게 고려해 입힌 색으로 작가의 내면적인 풍경을 재현하는 것이다. 동시에 작가는 공간에 따라 공간에 따라 우연히 얻게 되는 빛과 미묘한 색감의 변화는 작품을 바라보는 관람자의 몫으로 남겨둔다. 작가의 시간과 사색을 담은 순수 색면의 미니멀한 작품으로 일상생활에서 쉽게 경험하지 못한 새로운 시각적 자극을 주는 동시에 여러 경험의 순간을 함께 선사한다. 윤새롬은 홍익대학교 목조형가구학과와 동 대학원을 졸업하였다. 2022년 무목적을 시작으로 얼터사이트계선(2022), 미메시스미술관(2023)에서 개인전을 개최했으며, 청주국제공예비엔날레(2017), [대구 뉴바우하우스](대구예술발전소), [아트마이닝 서울](2019, DDP), [다시 만난 세계:유토피아](2021,한국공예관), [ART-IST](2022, 분더샵) 등 다수의 기획전에 참여하였다. 2016년에 한국공예디자인문화진흥원에서 선정한 올해의 작가상과 2018년 파네라이 넥스트 제너레이션 디자이너 선정되었으며, 2018 MEIM를 수상하였다. Yoon Saerom sculpts works using acrylic material to capture transparency, color, and light. Maintaining the flexibility to capture various lights in transparent acrylic, he presents his own objects with impressive aesthetics. The lyrical colors of his works are well represented in his representative series, "One Day." It is inspired by his nostalgic memories of the scenic views of the seaside in the Philippines where he spent his childhood. To express the beautiful colors of nature that remain in his memories, the artist dyes the acrylic surface, inducing a mixture of vibrant and natural colors. By delicately considering the refraction and reflection of light on acrylic, he reproduces his inner landscapes. At the same time, he leaves the changes in light and subtle variations in color, which occur accidentally depending on the space, to the viewers' interpretation. Through his pure-colored, minimalistic works encapsulating his contemplation and time, he provides a new visual stimulus not commonly experienced in daily life, while also offering moments of shared experience. Yoon graduated from the Department of Wood, Furniture, and Crafts at Hongik University and its graduate school. He held solo exhibitions at ALTERSITE GYESUN (2022) and Mimesis Art Museum (2023) following his initiation with Nomukjeol in 2022. Additionally, he participated in numerous group exhibitions such as the Cheongju International Craft Biennale (2017), Daegu New Bauhaus (Daegu Art Development Center), Art Mining Seoul (2019, DDP), Reunited World: Utopia (2021, Korea Craft & Design Foundation), and ART-IST (2022, Bundershop). He was awarded the Designer of the Year by the Korea Crafts Design Cultural Promotion Agency in 2016, selected as a Next Generation Designer by Panerai in 2018, and won the MEIM Award in 2018.
