이미지를 통해 감정을 탐구하는 연여인은 인간 내면에 잠재된, 인지되지 못한 본연의 감정에 주목하며, 정의하기 어려운 순간들을 초현실적이면서도 감각적인 이미지로 구현한다. 펜과 잉크, 유화 같은 전통적인 아날로그 매체에서부터 디지털 페인팅까지 다양한 기법을 아우르는 작가는, 기묘하면서도 아름다운 세계를 창조하며 자신의 작업을 ‘현실적 환상’이라고 정의한다. 연여인의 작품은 삶의 주체인 자신이 세상과 마주하며 겪는 사건들, 그리고 그로부터 비롯된 다층적인 감정을 중심으로 전개된다. 기억의 흔적을 매개체로 삼아, 현실과 환상의 경계에 선 인간 존재의 모습을 탐구하며, 그 속에서 발견되는 모호함과 새로움을 독창적 서사로 풀어낸다. 이러한 그의 작품에는 대머리 어른아이, 원피스를 입은 소녀, 우주에서 온 토끼 등 일상 속 축적된 시각적 자극에서 깊은 영감을 얻어 탄생한 독창적인 캐릭터들이 등장한다. 작가는 이 캐릭터들이 하나의 장면 속에서 서로 얽히고설키며 독립적인 세계를 형성하고, 내면적 서사를 통해 삶의 다층적 본질을 담아내며, 정의하기 어려운 감정을 기묘한 세계로 표현하고 있다. 그리고 자신의 기억과 감정을 기반으로 초현실적 세계관을 구축하며, 독창적인 이야기를 담아내는 작품을 통해, 자신만의 예술세계를 펼쳐나가고 있다. 연여인은 서강대학교에서 심리학과 크리에이티브 비주얼 아츠(Creative Visual Arts) 학사 과정을 졸업했다. 디아 컨템포러리(서울, 한국, 2025), DOOR(서울, 한국, 2023), 서울시립미술관 벙커(서울, 한국, 2019)에서 개인전을 개최했다. 디아 컨템포러리(서울, 한국, 2026), 구하우스(서울, 한국, 2025), 서울한옥위크 전시(서울, 한국, 2024), 젠틀몬스터 HAUS NOWHERE(선전, 중국, 2024), POP 한남(서울, 한국, 2023), 사무람(서울, 한국, 2023), 서울미술관(서울, 한국, 2022; 2021), 기지재단(서울, 한국, 2022), 메종 오브제(파리, 프랑스, 2022), 행화탕(서울, 한국, 2019), 대림 구슬모아당구장(서울, 한국, 2019) 등에서 열린 단체전 및 프로젝트에 참여했다. 2019년 Internationales Digitalkunst Festival(슈투트가르트, 독일) 오디오비주얼 부문과 서울국제프라이드영화제(서울, 한국) 한국 애니메이션 단편 부문에 작품이 상영되었다. 2025년 클리오 엔터테인먼트 어워즈 모션 포스터 부문에서 실버 어워드를 수상했으며, 구하우스가 그의 작품을 소장하고 있다. Artist Yeon Yeoin explores emotions through imagery, delving into the raw, unperceived feelings embedded in human nature. She captures indescribable moments and translates them into surreal yet sensorial images. Using a wide range of techniques, from traditional analog mediums like pen and ink or oil painting to digital painting, Yeoin creates a strange yet beautiful world that she defines as “realistic fantasy.” Her work revolves around the layered emotions arising from personal encounters with the world, focusing on events she experiences as the protagonist of her own life. Drawing on traces of memory, she examines the human condition poised on the boundary between reality and fantasy, unraveling the ambiguity and novelty discovered there through unique narratives. Her creations feature original characters inspired by the accumulation of visual stimuli from everyday life, including a bald adult-child, a girl in a dress, and a rabbit from outer space. These characters intertwine within singular scenes to form independent worlds, reflecting the complex essence of life and expressing difficult-to-define emotions through her peculiar universe. Yeoin builds a surreal worldview rooted in her own memories and emotions, weaving innovative stories into her art. YEON majored in Psychology and Creative Visual Arts at Sogang University. Beginning with her solo exhibition at the Seoul Museum of Art Bunker in 2019, she held solo exhibitions at DIA Contemporary in 2025, and Platform A and DOOR in 2023. She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including ≪DYNAMIS≫(DIA Contemporary, Seoul, 2026), ≪Little Giants: The 90s Generation≫(KOO HOUSE Museum, Seoul, 2025), ≪Goods Marts≫(D project space, Seoul, 2019), ≪Mirror in the Mirror≫(Seoul Museum, Seoul, 2021), ≪Saengil Jaanchi≫(GIZI foundation, Seoul, 2022), ≪ Samoolshow part.1≫(Saamooram, Seoul, 2023), and ≪HAUS NOWHERE≫(Gentle Monster, Shenzhen, 2024).
