‘THèSE [té:zǝ] 테제’ 휴컨템포러리 서울은 2021년 9월 1일부터 9월 15일까지 청담 분더샵에서 ‘THèSE [té:zǝ] | 테제’展을 기획하였다. 분더샵이 주최하고 싱가포르와 서울을 기반으로 국내외 아티스트들을 활발히 소개해 온 휴컨템포러리가 기획한 이번 전시는 분더샵 청담 지하 공간에서 2주동안 진행하며, 패션과 라이프스타일의 경계를 뛰어넘어 아트 작품을 위한 새로운 공간을 선보인다. 분더샵 청담은 라이프스타일의 확장으로, 예술이 삶 자체가 될 수 있는 신개념 라이프 스타일 제안이라는 기획의도와 함께 싱가포르에서 성공적으로 K-컬쳐를 알려온 휴컨템포러리와의 협업이 성사되었다. 전시에서는 예술과 공예를 융합하여 실생활에서 컬렉터들의 예술적인 감각을 한층 더 돋보이게 해 줄 작품들을 선보이며 예술의 본질에 집중된 새로운 개념의 전시를 진행한다. 전시명인 ‘Thèse [té:zǝ] | 테제’의 사전적 정의는 ‘논리를 전개하는 최초의 명제’다. 이 전시에서 ‘테제’는 작가들이 예술 혹은 공예 작품을 제작하기에 앞서, 무엇을 가장 중시하는지 묻는 의미가 크다. 설치 조각부터 60년 넘게 대를 이어 만들어져 온 유리 식기까지 200여점에 달하는 작품들이 150평에 달하는 분더샵 공간에 설치될 예정이며, 18명의 국내외 아티스트들이 예술과 공예, 디자인의 경계를 허물고 자신들의 작품에 예술적 표현의 힘과 공예의 정신 (Functional Art)에 집중한 하나의 유니크 피스들을 선보인다. 이번 전시는 최근 패션, 미술을 포함하여 다양한 분야에서 주목받고 있는 국내외 작가 18명의 작품을 소개한다. 특히, 전시에서 최초로 공개되는 분더샵 익스클루시브(EXCLUSIVE)로 김미영 작가의 유화 마띠에르가 덧입혀진 세라믹 오브제, 확장이 가능한 곽철안 작가의 아트 퍼니처 ‘Cursive Structure’, 김윤미 작가의 옻칠 트레이 '진경산수’, 윤라희 작가의 절제미가 깃든 레진 소재의 테이블, 그리고 이윤희 작가의 섬세한 터치가 돋보이는 도자 테이블 웨어 등이 있다. 그리고 새로운 아트 패러다임을 제안하고, 다양한 분야의 작품들을 만끽할 수 있도록 공간이 구성된다. Thèse [té:zǝ] Huue Contemporary Seoul curated ‘These [té:zǝ]’ at BOONTHESHOP Cheongdam from September 1 to September 15, 2021. Hosted by BOONTHESHOP and in collaboration with Huue Contemporary, a platform actively promoting both domestic and international artists based in Singapore and Seoul, this exhibition unfolded over two weeks in the underground space of BOONTHESHOP Cheongdam, introducing a new space for art beyond the boundaries of fashion and lifestyle. BOONTHESHOP Cheongdam, as an extension of lifestyle, has successfully introduced K-culture in Singapore and collaborates with Huue Contemporary to propose a new concept of lifestyle where art can be life itself. The exhibition aimed to present works that blend art and craftsmanship, elevating collectors' artistic sensibilities in everyday life, and to explore a new concept of art focusing on the essence of art. The title of the exhibition, ‘These [té:zǝ],’ has a dictionary definition of 'the initial proposition in logic'. In this exhibition, ‘These’ poses the question of what artists prioritize before creating art or craftworks. The exhibition featured over 200 works, ranging from installation sculptures to glassware with a lineage of over 60 years, in the expansive space of BOONTHESHOP, spanning 495 square meters. Eighteen local and international artists broke down the boundaries between art, craft, and design, showcasing their unique pieces that focus on the power of artistic expression and the spirit of craftsmanship (Functional Art). This exhibition introduced works by 18 local and international artists who have been garnering attention in various fields including fashion and art. Particularly, the exhibition unveiled for the first time BOONTHESHOP Exclusive items such as Kim Miyoung's ceramic objects adorned with oil paintings, Kwak Chul-an's expandable art furniture 'Cursive Structure', Kim Yunmi's lacquer trays 'Jin-gyeong-san-su', Yoon Rahee's restrained resin tables, and Lee Yun-hee's delicate touch displayed in ceramic tableware. The space was curated to propose a new art paradigm and to enjoy works from various fields.
