감각적 색채를 보여주는 사브리나 밀라조는 표면에 너머 있는 기억의 서사를 자극하며, 시간에 따라 변화하는 인간의 감정에 대해 탐구한다. 작가의 캔버스 속 주인공은 월트 디즈니의 캐릭터이다. 작가는 섬세한 붓놀림을 통해 파스텔톤의 금방이라도 녹아내릴 것 같은 질감을 극사실적으로 표현한다. 캐릭터의 변형과 해체의 과정을 통해 쉽게 알아볼 수 있는 캐릭터의 외적 형태만 남겨 두고, 몽환적인 색의 표현을 가미한 그의 작품은 초현실주의 포토-리얼리즘과 팝아트 그 사이에 서 있다. 작가는 기억 속 일부분만 캔버스에 남겨놓음으로 어린시절에 마주하였던 감정을 기억 저편에서 꺼내는 동시에 흘러간 시간 속에서 그 때의 감정과 기억들이 변화해가는 과정을 마주보게 한다. 그리고 보는 이로 하여금 각기 다른 서사의 감정이 발화 할 수 있는 순간을 선사한다. 이탈리아 출신 사브리나 밀라조는 이탈리아 토리노에서 거주하며 작업한다. 작가는 토리노 미술 아카데미에서 회화과를 졸업하였다. 2004년 San Giovanni Valdarno를 시작으로 Galleria Sangallo Art Station(2012), Galleria PUNTO SULL’ARTE(2020), Zaion Gallery(2023) 등에서 개인전을 개최했으며, 제54회 베네치아 비엔날레 이탈리아관(2011), Museo Civic(2015), Museo PAM(2022), Galleria PUNTO SULL’ARTE(2022, 2023) 등 다수의 단체전에 참여하였다. 한국에는 휴컨템포러리가 2022 아트부산에서 처음 작가를 소개했으며, 뒤이어 2022년 청담 분더샵에서 열린 [ART-IST], 2023 아트부산에 참여하였다. Sabrina Milazzo, who showcases sensual colors, stimulates narratives of memories beyond canvas surface and explores human emotions that change over time. The protagonist in the artist's canvas is Walt Disney characters. Through delicate brushstrokes, she realistically depicts textures that seem to melt away in pastel tones. Her works, which leave only the external forms of easily recognizable characters through the process of transformation and disintegration, imbue a dreamlike expression of colors, standing between surrealistic photorealism and Pop Art. By leaving only fragments of memories on the canvas, the artist brings forth emotions encountered during childhood from the depths of memory, while also confronting the process of how emotions and memories from that time change over time. She offers viewers moments where various emotional narratives can ignite. Sabrina Milazzo, hailing from Italy, resides and works in Turin, Italy. She graduated from the painting department at the Turin Academy of Fine Arts. Starting with San Giovanni Valdarno in 2004, she held solo exhibitions at Galleria Sangallo Art Station(2012), Galleria PUNTO SULL’ARTE(2020), Zaion Gallery(2023), and participated in numerous group exhibitions including the 54th Venice Biennale Italy Pavilion(2011), Museo Civic(2015), Museo PAM(2022), and Galleria PUNTO SULL’ARTE(2022, 2023).
