Yu Jeongmin

유정민은 반복과 변형이라는 주제로 조형 작품을 선보이고 있다. 작가는 곡선과 함께 움직일 수 있는 추상적 형태를 중요시한다. 그리고 하나의 재료를 다루는 익숙한 방식에서 벗어나 새로운 작업 방식을 찾으며, 재료의 잠재된 가능성과 본연의 성질을 끌어 내는 형태를 추구한다. 특히 그의 작품에 있어서 아치는 중요한 요소인데, 이는 정적이면서도 동적으로 움직이는 모양을 잘 보여주는 형태이기 때문이다. 이에 작가는 잘 휘어지는 성질을 가진 오징어 합판을 사용하여 아치의 기본을 중심으로 자유로운 곡선을 표현하는 다양한 도상을 선보이며, 다채로운 조형 작품 세계를 확장해가고 있다. 유정민은 홍익대학교 미술대학 목조형가구학과를 졸업하고, 동대학원을 수료하였다. 문제적 공예(2020, 아트비트갤러리), unparasite(2021, 플랫폼엘), THèSE(2021, 분더샵), ART-IST(2022, 분더샵), Spectrum of Seating(2022, DDP), 제4회 한글실험프로젝트(2022, 국립한글박물관) 등의 주요 전시에 참여하였으며, 싱가포르 TWP에서 작품을 소장하고 있다. Yu Jeongmin presents sculptural works under the theme of repetition and transformation. The artist values abstract forms that can move along with curves. Departing from the familiar methods of handling a single material, Yu seeks new approaches, aiming to bring out the latent possibilities and inherent qualities of the material. Particularly, arches are significant elements in his works, as they effectively display shapes that are both static and dynamic. Using bendable plywood with flexible properties, the artist showcases various forms centered around the basic arch, expressing free curves and expanding the diverse world of sculptural works. Yu graduated from the Department of Woodworking and Furniture Design at Hongik University's College of Fine Arts and completed a master's degree. He has participated in major exhibitions such as Problematic Craft(2020, Artbeat Gallery), Unparasite(2021, Platform L), THèSE(2021, BOONTHESHOP), ART-IST(2022, BOONTHESHOP), Spectrum of Seating(2022, DDP), and The 4th Hangul Experiment Project(2022, National Hangeul Museum). His works are collected by TWP Singapore in Singapore.
